arnold.

This is Brooke. I like to call her Arnold. Why? Because on a phone with predicting text 'Arnold' comes up when writing 'Brooke'. This makes me laugh. Arnie and I have been besties since we were tiny. Even though you can't see her face here, I'm sure you'd agree that she's beautiful :)

jordy the fisherman.

This is Jordanna up at Lake St Clair. Not only do I love Jordy's 'fishing glasses' but the mountains look pretty amazing covered with snow too.

callum.

As cheeky as one can get.

mekenzie grace.

Kenzie.

the cook islands.

Rarotonga.

my siblings.

The teeny weeny little crabs scared George. So Jordy, being the good big brother he is, carried her. I had a camera in my hand :)

megan # 4.

I love this because it reminds me of a casual wedding.

darcy # 3.

DARCY :)

darcy # 2.

Darcy is cheeky :)

darcy.

This is my little Darcy Doo. He is like Chloe, so much fun to play with and incredibly cute! I'll post three photos of Darcy too :) His Mumma is Anna :)

chloe # 3

Last one of Chloe, I promise. I just love some of my pictures of her. I just love Chloe :)

chloe # 2

No words are needed for how cute Chloe is.

chloe.

This is my little cousin, Chloe. She is the coolest kid on the block! So much fun to play with and has the best personality :) I'll have a few more pictures of her to yet because she is gorgeous. She's Clare's baby girl :)

foggy.

I think fog looks great in pictures. I find it hard to comprehend how it can affect your sight so much but we just can't grab it :) This is simply the road near my house on a foggy day.

railway.

This is the railway line near my place, only a 100 metres away. The barn is now gone which is really sad, it was my favourite place for photo shoots. You'd think that having old trains go past your house at odd hours of the night would be disturbing but it's not. I like the sound. I hardly wake to it anymore but it's a comforting sound when I do.

behind the house.

Because I live in the country, I see some pretty magical things. This being one of them. The sun setting behind my house. When looking out you can see my Uncle Kim's old farm. I like this picture but to love it I would have to photoshop the powerlines out.
This is Megan Elizabeth Tribolet-Turner. One of my besties. I took this at school, and I love it. She looks gorgeous. I would love it more if she had a nice background, not the school canteen. She was my model for most of last year, so she was always in different costumes in different places. But I like this because it's natural.

Bec Robbo # 3

Bec again, in the haunted house again, wearing the same dress again and yet I love this again. The sun almost makes me feel warm. Edited on picnik like all my pictures now.

fireplace.

This is the fireplace at the Beaumonts Road 'haunted house'. I edited it on picnik again.

Bec Robbo # 2

This ie Bec again. She was my main model when a few of the girls in my class came to my place. We all headed down Beaumonts Road to the 'haunted house'. It made great photos! I love this because only her eyes are over the fan. She has big, beautiful eyes and so it works well. I also edited this here.

Bec Robbo # 1

This is Bec Robbo. I also took this at our photoshoot. She wasn't even posing, simply trying to get to a tree with out stepping on prickles. I edited this here. I really like the outcome.

volleys.

Volleys are my favourite shoes. I have many many pairs. These are a brand new pair with a tyedye shoe lace in it. I took this then edited it in photoshop. Your eyes are meant to be drawn to my shoe lace :)

Laura.

My friend's name is Lauree. But we like to call her Laura because she doesn't like it. Laura is small in stature but not in personality. I took this photo down Beaumonts Rd when a few of us girls from school went to do a photoshoot. This photo makes Laura look even smaller :)

A Funny Photo

I took this photo ages ago and just thought it was a picture of Danika being gross. But my friend Sammy told me to have another look. Not only can we see what Danika is chewing on but to her left we have Sam, picking out a wedgie and to her right we have Mother Prebble losing her hat. I suppose this just shows me what a camera can capture.

flickr.

I have this photographer that Fiona showed me on flickr.com. She is amazing, Rosie Hardy. I love everything about her photos. She does a lot of self portraits, and if I looked as good as her I would too! She must have quite the gear, locations and definately the editing skills. She does some pretty creepy things with photoshop! But because flickr.com is just so cool I can't actually upload her pictures onto here for some weird reason? Lisa, Toni, Fiona ? You may have the answer to this? BUT, here are the two links to my very FAVOURITE pictures that she's taken of herself.

This one is my all time favourite!

@ the social #2

(Grace, Ebony, Emma, Jackie & Frances)
This was the first photo I took of the night and I hadn't played with the camera settings yet. I looked at it after I took it and realised I had better change the settings. But now I look at it I think its really cool :)

@ the social

I took this photo of Alistair at the Del High Social last term. Like most of my photos, it was a total fluke. I didn't see the shot and think it would be anything special. I simply looked back on my photos from the and realised that I really like it.

PhotoVoice #4

This is my dog Charlie. I begged my Mum and Dad for ages to get a puppy. It worked! Although he's pretty big now and doesn't look like a puppy he's really naughty and acts like a pup. He rips up rubbish, he pulls all the clothes off the clothes line, he barks at possums and jumps all over me. But I love him. He's too cute not to :)

PhotoVoice #3

I catch this every day. Dez scares me a little. The kids all give us high fives as we get on. Daniel sings to us. Tucker tells jokes every now and then. Lauree tells us stories , some of which we've heard before. Blair laughs at all the stupid things people say. Brookie gets me up to date with the latest music sometimes. Frances whips out cool headphones. Tegan comes on the bus Thursdays. I sleep alot of the time. We all say 'Cya on Monday' every time Daniel gets off the bus. Good old Weegena Bus.

PhotoVoice #2

I took this picture at the bus stop before school. I like it because it's untouched, I haven't photoshopped it at all. It reminds me of the kind of beauty I do see every day and take for granted. While I'm outside waiting and sooking because I'm cold, I get to see this.

PhotoVoice #1

We've begun a program at school called 'PhotoVoice'. This is an opportunity for our photography class to show their work to the community. We have a week (a bit more) to take our cameras with us and happily snap away. We have been given the question "Who Am I?" and we're to answer it through our photos. With the many many photos I take through this week (a bit more), I am to select roughly 50. Then I will have an interview with TJ (the guy incharge) in which we will discuss my photots and will choose 15. Those 15 will be framed and put around the Deloraine Hospital.
This is my first picture.
I love photography.
I love Mrs Sydes' SLR too.
In fact I love Mrs Sydes for letting me
borrow her SLR camera :)

Favourite

This is my favourite photo that I have taken. At the little haunted house, down Beaumonts Road, I took Aunty Lorraines Nikon D60. I took a picture through one of the many cracks in the wall not thinking much of it. I tried to line up the sun coming through and succeeded. I haven't edited this photo and thats why I love it so much. It's naturally awesome.
One of the very few photos where I feel clever.

Sunday, May 9, 2010

I took this photo at a local football match between the different wards of our church. It was Launceston West & Launceston East vs. Deloraine, Devonport & Burnie. My Mum's old best friend, Fiona Harding, came along to take some pictures. She knew I was a little interested in photography and let me have a play with her SLR. I took plenty of photos but this was the best one by far. I was glad that I got so much squished into the photo. Jack's leg is still in up, the ball is at the top of the photo and Luke is in midair trying to block. Then in the background I've got the other players and one even looks as if he's disappionted that the goal may go in. Fiona then edited this photo for me and put the 'Tayla Christie Photography' on it.

Heart Written

I used this photo for my ANZAC Photography Assignment. I called it 'Heart Written'. When I was given the assignment I immediantly thought that I wanted to do something that was out of the ordinary. It was obviously based on war so I wanted to look at it from a different perspective. I didn't want to include death, blood or pain. So I looked at it from a woman's perspective. First I decided that I wanted to use my friend Meg as the model. Then I had to decide what I wanted her to be doing and what perspective of war to look at. I ended up wanting it to be a woman at home writing to a loved one. I could picture a lady in black and white writing at an old desk. I had a few issues with setting this scene. It became tricky to have my model, Meg, over at my place to take the photo.
I also had to try and find clothes that would have been worn back in 1914. I ended up finding an old white top that could have been warn back in the day and used that. I have a nice old desk at home but because it was getting tricky to organise both Meg & I and our very busy schedules we decided to do it all at school. We organised a wooden desk from the school office and placed it outside where the light was best. I borrowed Mrs Sydes SLR, dressed her up and took many photos. After doing different things with her hair, sitting her in different positions and fiddling with the whole setting I put the pictures on the computer and played with photoshop. I used different filters until I got what I was after which is the picture above.

The beginning ...

I've started this blog for a photography term assignment. It's pretty much for my teacher Mrs Sydes but all are welcome to have a look and comment. I like getting comments. I'm hopeless at photography, I don't even have my own camera yet. I borrow other peoples or use dodgy little digital cameras and edit the photos. I know nothing about photoshop, but I like to play. Enjoy.
